Karen is our Principal Psychologist, who established Brainbox Psychology Clinic in 2014. She has completed a Master of Psychology at Curtin University, and is endorsed with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Counselling Psychologist. Karen has a particular passion for detailed psychological assessments that unravel the complexities associated with dyslexia, intellectual giftedness and attention problems. Karen’s therapeutic areas of interest include mother-baby mental health, child and adolescent social-emotional development and family relationship functioning.
Dr Jenny Sandilands
Jenny has an impressive career track record offering psychotherapy to children and adolescents experiencing complex neurodevelopmental disorders and emotional health concerns. She has completed a Doctorate of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of Western Australia, and is endorsed with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Clinical Psychologist. Jenny enjoys using a strengths based approach to treatment of childhood anxiety, depression and adjustment disorders.
Educational and Developmental Psychologist
Kylie has completed a Master of Psychology (Educational) at the University of Melbourne, and is endorsed with the Psychology Board of Australia as an Educational and Developmental Psychologist. Kylie has a special interest in peri- and post-natal mental health, and enjoys working with parents to assist in building a strong and healthy relationship with their child.
Educational and Developmental Psychologist
Aoife has completed a Master of Psychology (Educational & Developmental) at the University of Western Australia and is endorsed with the Psychology Board of Australia as an Educational and Developmental Psychologist. Aoife has extensive experience assisting complex cases involving assessments of intellectual abilities and executive functioning. She is a strong advocate for children’s needs within the school environment and enjoys working collaboratively with parents and educators.
Nina has completed a Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of Western Australia and is endorsed with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Clinical Psychologist. Nina has advanced expertise assisting children experiencing complex attentional difficulties, behavioural challenges and anxious behaviours. She enjoys working alongside parents to develop insight into their child’s executive functioning issues and implement practical strategies to assist at home and school.
Kyleigh has completed a Master of Psychology (Counselling Psychology) at Curtin University and holds full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. She has undertaken further specialist training and mentoring to receive endorsement in counselling psychology. Throughout her career in school psychology, Kyleigh has developed advanced expertise in conducting diagnostic assessments for children experiencing learning difficulties, language delays and behavioural challenges. Her therapeutic areas of interest include anxiety and stress in school aged children, social skills development, mother-baby mental health and couples fertility issues.
Dr Davinia Shannahan
Davinia has completed a Doctorate in Child and Educational Psychology at the University of East London and is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Psychologist. Davinia has considerable expertise assisting children, adolescents and families within the school system. She is passionate about working collaboratively with educators and parents regarding challenging behaviours. Davinia is creative and playful in her approach to support social, emotional and learning development.
Emily Barten, Mandy Bowler, Emma McDowell & Riley Abbott
Emily, Mandy, Emma and Riley are our Clinic Administrators who assist clients and support the team. They are all currently studying towards their psychology degree. They enjoy responding to new client enquiries regarding assessments and therapy.
